An incubator replaces the broody hen. For a chicken egg that means three jobs for 21 days: hold the temperature at about 37.5 °C, keep humidity in the right band, and turn the eggs several times a day so the embryo doesn't stick to the shell. Miss one of them and the hatch rate drops.
Every IncubatorPro incubator does all three automatically: a digital controller holds temperature and humidity, a motor tilts the egg trays on a timer, and a fan spreads the heat evenly so eggs at the back hatch as well as eggs at the front. A chicken batch takes 21 days, so a 1,056-egg incubator sets about 1,500 eggs a month: roughly 1,200 to 1,300 chicks at an 80–85% hatch rate. Work out your own number with the incubator size guide or the hatchery profit calculator.
The same incubator hatches chicken, duck, quail, guinea fowl and turkey eggs. You change the settings and incubation time, not the machine:
Exact temperatures and humidity for each are in the incubator temperature and humidity chart.

An incubator is a machine that keeps fertile eggs at the right temperature and humidity and turns them until they hatch, doing the job of a broody hen. Chicken eggs need about 37.5 °C for 21 days.
IncubatorPro incubators cost from R8,500 for the 360-egg model to R123,000 for the 20,000-egg hatchery machine. The 720-egg model is R13,000 and the 1,056-egg model R15,000.
The 360-egg incubator. It is fully automatic, small enough for a home or backyard setup and big enough to sell chicks once you have the routine right.

Work back from how many chicks you want a month. A chicken batch takes 21 days, so a 1,056-egg incubator sets about 1,500 eggs a month (roughly 1,200 to 1,300 chicks at an 80–85% hatch rate), while a 360-egg model suits home flocks.
