Japanese (Coturnix) quail eggs hatch in 17–18 days at about 37.5 °C. Keep humidity around 45–50 % until day 14 or 15, then stop turning and raise it to 65–70 % for the hatch. Use the hatch date calculator to plan your dates.
Quail eggs are much smaller than chicken eggs, so they need quail trays or adapter trays to sit safely while the machine turns them. Ask about quail trays when you order. An incubator fits many more quail eggs than its chicken-egg rating; tell us how many quail eggs you want to set and we will recommend a model.
Quail eggs are small and lose heat and moisture quickly, so stable digital temperature and humidity control makes a real difference to hatch rates. Automatic turning also saves you turning hundreds of tiny eggs by hand several times a day.
