Paper (pulp) trays are cheap but single-use and soak up moisture and dirt. Many egg businesses use plastic trays on the farm and paper or plastic egg containers for sales.
Egg trays are one of the first things a new egg business needs, alongside good feeders and drinkers for the layers. If you plan to hatch your own replacement hens, add a small incubator.
